Medicare Supplement Plan C

Medicare Supplement Plan C is one of the most comprehensive of the 10 standardized Medigap insurance plans available in most states. Medicare Supplement Plan C covers most Medicare-approved expenses you would have paid for out-of-pocket.

 

These include:

• Medicare Part A coinsurance and hospital costs up to an additional 365 days after Medicare benefits are used up

• Medicare Part A hospice care coinsurance or copayment

• Medicare Part A deductible

• Medicare Part B coinsurance or copayment

• Medicare Part B deductible 

• The first three pints of blood 

• 80% of foreign travel emergency medical costs 

• Skilled nursing facility care coinsurance

• Medicare preventive care Part B coinsurance

 

The only thing it doesn't cover is Part B excess charges. However, Medicare Supplement Plan C is being phased out, so those who were not eligible to enroll for Medicare before January 1, 2020, cannot buy Plan C. However, if you were eligible before January 1, 2020, you still apply to buy Plan C. If you had Plan C before January 1, 2020, you can still keep your plan.
 

Medigap Plan C may seem like a great plan to purchase because of its comprehensive coverage. However, because of its very high monthly premium costs Plan G and Plan N are usually the overall best value options available for the money.
